Savoy Hotel Manila once again turned the runway into a platform for purpose with its 2nd Annual TRASHion Show, an inter-departmental competition that blended fashion, environmental advocacy, and the vibrant spirit of Pride Month.

This year’s theme, “KULAY,” stood for Kalikasan (Nature), Ugnayan (Connection), Laya (Freedom), Adbokasiya (Advocacy), and Yugto ng Pagbabago (A New Chapter of Change)—five values that resonate with the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and continuous growth.

With recycled and upcycled materials as their canvas, teams from the Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Food and Beverage, Finance, and Sales, Marketing and Reservations transformed everyday waste into stunning wearable art. Their creations—bursting with color, creativity, and heart—were proudly modeled by their fellow associates, turning the stage into a celebration of talent and teamwork.

The distinguished panel of judges—Eden Decano, Group Director of Finance and Head of Sustainability at MHR; .George Buid, Publisher of Manila Stories; and Allyssa Majarucon, Estate Officer of Newport City Estate Association—faced a tough call, as each entry stood out not just for its craftsmanship but for the stories they told. In the end, what sealed the winners’ fate was the powerful Question and Answer segment, where participants shared heartfelt insights on how sustainability is deeply connected to social justice, inclusion, kindness, and diversity.

After much deliberation, Housekeeping was crowned champion, with Engineering and Front Office taking second and third place, respectively.

Beyond the competition, the event was a true showcase of camaraderie, fun, and shared values. Closing the event, Cluster General Manager of NCR+ properties Jun Justo and Group General Manager Art Boncato Jr., commended the teams for their passion and creativity, encouraging everyone to keep raising the bar for next year’s celebration.

The Savoy Hotel Manila (SHM) team plant Romaine Lettuce seeds at the Belmont Hotel Manila’s (BHM) property, while BHM will cultivate Chinese Kale and Red Amarante seeds at SHM’s rooftop garden. This exchange not only enriches the diversity of their gardens but also strengthens the bond between the teams as they work together towards a common goal.

The produce harvested from this initiative will be utilized as fresh ingredients in the hotels’ culinary offerings, enhancing the farm-to-table experience for guests and showcasing their commitment to local sourcing.

By working together, both hotels aim to create vibrant, eco-friendly environments that enhance the aesthetic appeal of their spaces while promoting sustainable practices. This initiative not only reflects their dedication to environmental stewardship but also serves as an inspiration for guests and the local community to embrace responsible, eco-conscious behaviors.
