After more than 30 years capturing news, sports, and life for one of the country’s major broadsheets, The Philippine Star, veteran photojournalist Fernan Nebres now brings his lens to the country’s landscapes, people, and stories for Lakbay Magazine.
Nebres is the former chief photographer of the newspaper where he retired in July 2026.
At The Philippine Star, he started as a paste-up artist in 1988 before working his way up to staff photographer. Over the years, he covered news events, sports, travel and tourism, lifestyle and entertainment.
Rising to chief photographer, Nebres led a team through decades of breaking news, triumphs, and human interest stories.
Beyond the lens, he’s into badminton, cycling, and other sports.
Nebres is expected to bring his expertise in producing more colorful and engaging photography for Lakbay Magazine.
